Akademia’s essence is rooted in the Afrikaans language and cultural communities. Without these communities the institution would not have experienced more than a decade of growth. However, a great task awaits Akademia and the community to take Afrikaans higher education to even greater heights.

*Most donations are tax refundable and the Akademia endowment fund will happily issues a Section 18A tax certificate in this regard.
Students (loans, bursaries, student life)
At Akademia we refer to our students as Fonties. The word Fonties is derived from our motto, Ad futurum per fontes, that means “to the future from the sources” Thus, we refer to our students as sources, rather than fountains. Fountains of knowledge.
Development of faculties
Akademia offers various programmes within the five faculties and intends to offer a full range of programmes across a variety of faculties in the future. If you have a passion for a specific area, you can make a financial contribution to help expand and grow this direction at Akademia.

Make a lasting contribution to Afrikaans higher education
Plan your will wisely. Bequeath to Akademia and save on estate tax.
By including a bequest or legacy to Akademia in your will, you will help to build an Afrikaans academic institution. Akademia aims to establish a comprehensive residential campus by 2028 where 5 000 undergraduate and 2 000 postgraduate students can study on a beautiful campus in the east of Pretoria!

Akademia is a public benefit organisation (PBO) that qualifies you to lower your estate tax liability. A bequeath or bequest of equipment to Akademia in a will also qualifies as a deduction for estate tax purposes.
In the case of assets or equipment it is recommended that Akademia’s legal partner provide assistance.
