Akademia stands for the idea of an independent
AFRIKAANS UNIVERSITY SYSTEM
With your help we can make it happen. Get involved in one or more of the following ways.
FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS – ENDOWMENT FUND (SKENKINGSFONDS)
Contribute to Akademia’s endowment fund
In 2020, 961 Akademia students made use of a scholarship, loan or instalment option to finance their studies. Without these channels, many students would not be able to study and invest in their future. That is why Akademia’s endowment fund was established.
THE PURPOSE OF THE ENDOWMENT FUND IS TO INVEST DONATIONS RECEIVED TO GROW CAPITAL, BUILD AND THEN USE THE PROCEEDS FOR THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF STUDENTS IN NEED.
It is estimated that around 25% of Akademia students need student loans, which increases monthly by R4 million to address the R150 million demand by 2025. By means of the endowment fund, a sustainable model was created to recruit, expand and use donations for the benefit of Akademia’s students and the Afrikaans community.
There are two sustainable models for financing: Students in need can either apply for an interest-free loan or a student loan at a lower interest rate than with a commercial bank if the gross income of their household is above a certain amount.
YOU CAN HELP TO MAKE STUDY DREAMS A REALITY!
*Most donations are tax refundable, and Akademia will gladly issue a section 18a certificate in this regard.
YOU CAN HELP BUILD AKADEMIA THROUGH THE FOLLOWING DONATION METHODS:
- Donate a capital amount.
- Give students in need access to studies by providing a study loan. Bursaries are also welcome.
- Add a clause in your will to leave a bequest to the Akademia endowment fund, thereby also saving estate tax.
- By means of allocated funds, establish a fund that keeps your passion alive in a specific field.
- Sign a monthly contribution (debit order).
- The collection of funding through crowdfunding for the benefit of the Akademia endowment fund.
