Akademia is increasingly playing a leading role as an Afrikaans higher education institution and is a community institution registered as a company without profit.
The institution is growing at a rapid pace and the need for larger campus facilities to more effectively meet the demands of academic life is increasing. This growth and progress are essential for the continued development and preservation of the Afrikaans language and cultural communities.
Akademia will continue with its calling to provide quality education to even more students in Afrikaans through this world-class campus, while a vibrant student life will also continue to thrive.
A new campus dream for the near future
Akademia is developing a world-class campus spanning 220 hectares of land in the east of Pretoria that will serve as an academic home for 5 000 undergraduate, 2 000 postgraduate students, as well as for 1 500 residential students. The campus will feature, amongst others, modern learning spaces, sport facilities, and an experimental farm, designed to foster innovation and excellence.
However, this campus is going to be so much more than just a dynamic academic home. It will serve as a hub of excellence, preserving and promoting the intellectual and cultural traditions of the Afrikaans language and cultural communities.

A partnership between culture and capital
Akademia has partnered with Kanton – the well-established real estate investment company, known for the awe-inspiring Sol-Tech campus and its newly developed student residence.
Development cost
The cost of the entire campus development is projected at R3,2 billion.
Phase one will amount to R1,8 billion and will focus on the establishment of the primary infrastructure and associated bulk services. The latter including, water, electricity, and road networks. Phase two will follow, focusing on specialised facilities such as advanced research centres and state-of-the-art sports infrastructure.
ROADMAP: Timelines and milestones
The land for the new campus, valued at R50 million has already been purchased, with all land rights and rezoning processes having been successfully completed. Fundraising for the development is actively underway.
The groundbreaking ceremony as part of phase one of the project is scheduled for January 2026 and it is foreseen that the first students will be welcomed on the new campus by February 2028. Phase two will commence shortly hereafter.

By means of monthly contributions you can provide a regular donation over time, helping Akademia maintain a stable income and undertake projects sustainably, while allowing you to spread your contribution comfortably.
Specific or general donation
Choose to link your donation to a specific part of the campus development, such as development of infrastructure or the establishment of a specific building or facility and know that your contribution will be used exactly as you intend.
Alternatively, a donation can be made that gives Akademia the freedom to use it where it is most needed. In this way, you contribute to the total development, ensuring it is successfully undertaken and completed.
