Agricultural Endowment Fund
The Akademia Agricultural Endowment Fund was established in 2025 to support Akademia’s agricultural development, which will be part of the institution’s 2028 world-class campus located in the east of Pretoria. This fund represents a strategically identified and ring-fenced fund within the larger Akademia Endowment Fund.
Your involvement helps to ensure that new generations of vocation-driven agriculturists are trained who will positively strengthen the sustainability of the agricultural sector.
THE FOCUS AREAS OF THE FUND
The aim is to secure a total of R78 million in confirmed donations or formal commitments by the end of 2028. This capital will enable the complete development of the Agricultural Experimental Farm. Upon completion of this phase, the fundraising initiative will be intentionally expanded and intensified to ensure a sustainable flow of endowment funds. These funds will be used first to provide partial bursary funding to needy students, and subsequently for the implementation of the remaining strategic priorities as identified.
The Akademia Experimental Farm
Donations for the Akademia Experimental Farm will be used to develop and maintain a dedicated experimental farm for research, practice-oriented training, and the exploration of inventive and future-oriented agricultural practices. This facility will serve as a dynamic and hands-on learning environment for students, lecturers, and agronomists.
The Akademia Experimental Farm is earmarked for phase two of the campus development and is scheduled to commence in January 2028. It is anticipated that this phase will conclude by December 2028. The intended commissioning of the experimental farm is envisaged for January 2029.
Scholarship funding support and scholarships for agricultural students
Donations for this purpose will provide financial support and bursaries to prospective agricultural students at Akademia.
Programme and curriculum development
Donations for this purpose will be used to fund the development of specialised programmes in agricultural sciences as well as related disciplines. It is anticipated that by 2030, there will be 250 students enrolled in various agricultural programmes. Ultimately, the goal is to offer a comprehensive range of higher certificates, up to the doctoral level, in the field of agriculture.
The following agricultural programmes are in the planning and development phases:
- BAgric (Agriculture)
- BSc (Agricultural Sciences)
- Higher Certificate in Animal Production
- Higher Certificate in Crop Production
Capital investment for implements and technology
Funds will be used to procure industry-leading implements, equipment, and digital technologies.

Donations will contribute to the establishment of honorary chairs in academic research in agricultural economics, sustainable farming practices, and agricultural management, among others.
